Plant equipment maintenance should be strategic

Few factory managers think that maintenance should also be strategic. In fact, whether we talk about the strategy or not will directly affect the availability of equipment, maintenance costs, safety and environmental protection, and indirectly affect the reputation of enterprises, thus directly affecting the immediate or long-term economic benefits of enterprises.

The reason is very simple. For enterprises without preventive maintenance strategy, equipment unplanned downtime will not only affect the delivery time commitment, but also reduce the maintenance efficiency and increase the risk of equipment chain damage. For the process, it will also affect the production of upstream and downstream equipment, and the loss will be greater.

The average service life of the equipment should be considered first in formulating the maintenance strategy. Generally speaking, the failure rate level of equipment life is divided into three stages: initial failure period, accidental (random) failure period and consumption failure period. Different maintenance strategies should be adopted in different stages, which have been described in the previous chapters and will not be carried out any more.

Maintenance mode refers to the micro strategy design of maintenance. Micro maintenance strategy is related to each specific equipment, or a part of the equipment. The following maintenance mode is the micro maintenance strategy often used by enterprises.

Post maintenance: refers to the repair after equipment failure. It is suitable for the repair after failure, which is not serious, will not cause equipment chain damage, will not endanger safety and environment, will not block the links before and after production, and the loss of equipment shutdown is small. Post maintenance can maximize the effective service life of the equipment, which is a relatively economic maintenance strategy. The factory should not think that after maintenance is inevitable because of equipment failure, so it is an optional maintenance strategy. On the contrary, post maintenance should become an active strategy design of the enterprise, that is to say, we never do preventive maintenance for some equipment or parts, only do maintenance after work. If the lighting system is regarded as an equipment, the enterprise will never do preventive maintenance for such equipment.
